INTRODUCTION
Random spore analysis is used to examine meiotic recombination without performing tetrad analysis.

Appropriate yeast culture
ß-glucuronidase, 100 units/µl (Sigma)
Sporulation medium
Synthetic Complete (SC)-arg plates, containing 60 µg/ml of canavanine
YPD plate
Equipment
Conical polystyrene tube, 15 ml
Dowel, sterile
Glass beads,
