INTRODUCTION
If radiolabeled oligonucleotides are to be used only as probes in hybridization experiments, then complete removal of unincorporated radiolabel is generally unnecessary. However, to reduce background, it is always advisable to separate the bulk of the unincorporated radioactivity from the oligonucleotide. Most of the residual radioactive precursors can be removed from the preparation by differential precipitation with ethanol if the oligonucleotide is more than 18
