INTRODUCTION
The isolation of genomic DNA from whole blood (10 ml) using the Wizard Genomic DNA Purification Kit is based on a four-step process: lysis of the red blood cells and removal of the soluble fraction; lysis of the white blood cells and their nuclei; selective removal of cellular proteins; and the concentration and desalting of the purified genomic DNA. The Wizard Genomic DNA Purification Kit protocol can be used to isolate genomic DNA from whole-blood samples between 20 µl and 10 ml of whole blood collected in EDTA-, heparin-, or citrate-coated tubes.
